History

Brighton’s story begins in 1936 with a single rope tow fashioned from an elevator motor, making it one of the very first ski resorts in Utah. Founded by members of the Alpine Ski Club, its early days were humble. Over the decades, it evolved from a local’s secret into a beloved destination, known for pioneering night skiing in the region and continuously upgrading its infrastructure while carefully preserving its unpretentious, core-skier atmosphere. It’s a place that has grown with the sport but has never lost its original charm.

Brighton Resort Guide & FAQ

For the deepest powder, January and February are typically prime months. For sunnier skies and perfect spring skiing conditions, plan your trip for March or early April.

Weather permitting, Brighton usually opens in mid-November and closes in late April, offering one of the longest ski seasons in Utah.

Yes, the Brighton Rental Shop is located at the base of the resort and offers a full range of modern ski and snowboard equipment. It’s highly recommended to reserve your gear online in advance, especially during peak periods.

Brighton is on the Ikon Pass. If you don’t have an Ikon Pass, you can purchase day passes directly from the resort’s website. Buying online and in advance is almost always cheaper than buying at the ticket window.

During the winter, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) enforces a traction law in the canyon. This means vehicles must have 4WD/AWD or be equipped with snow tires or chains. The public UTA Ski Bus to Brighton is an option, but it runs on a fixed schedule. Booking a private car or shuttle to Brighton with Rock2Rocks eliminates this stress entirely, as our vehicles are properly equipped and our drivers are experienced in mountain conditions.

We recommend booking your transportation to Brighton as soon as your flight and accommodation are confirmed, especially if you are traveling during holiday weeks (like Christmas, New Year’s, or Presidents’ Day week) or on weekends. This ensures the best availability and pricing.

We often have special pricing available for larger groups or for travel during off-peak times. Exact information is not available online – please contact us for details and a personalized quote.
