History

The story of Stowe begins in the 1930s when the Civilian Conservation Corps first cut ski trails on Mount Mansfield. The resort’s legacy was cemented in 1940 with the installation of the world’s longest and highest single-chairlift at the time. This pioneering spirit defined Stowe for decades. The two separate ski areas, Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak, were finally connected in 2006 by the “OverEasy” gondola, creating the integrated resort we know today. In 2017, Stowe was acquired by Vail Resorts, bringing it into a new era of investment and access through the Epic Pass system.
